Project Description:
We are looking for a Lead ROS Engineer to drive the migration of an autonomous vehicle platform from ROS 1 to ROS 2. The platform operates as an autonomous UGV and integrates navigation, localization, vehicle control, GNSS, CAN-connected hardware, sensor systems, and higher-level autonomy capabilities.
This is not a greenfield project. You will work with an existing production robotics platform, analysing ROS 1 architecture, identifying migration challenges and dependencies, and helping shape a maintainable, production-ready ROS 2 solution while preserving existing system behaviour. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can guide engineering decisions, support the delivery team, and collaborate closely with customer engineers throughout the migration process.
Scope of Services:
Lead ROS 1 to ROS 2 migration activities for autonomous vehicle software.
Analyse, refactor, and migrate existing ROS-based components written in C++ and Python.
Migrate navigation, localization, autonomy, and vehicle control functionalities to ROS 2.
Integrate and validate vehicle sensors, hardware interfaces, and control systems.
Configure DDS/QoS communication and resolve performance, synchronization, and reliability issues.
Perform integration, regression, simulation, and vehicle-level testing.
Collaborate with customer engineering teams, provide technical guidance, and document migration decisions.
