Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience in DevOps and SRE environments.
Proven track record of driving DevOps transformation within large organizations.
Solid understanding of IT governance, operating models, and organizational design.
Experience defining and measuring KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.
Knowledge of reliability engineering, incident management, and operational excellence practices.
Experience working with cloud-native technologies and modern delivery models.
Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across technical and business teams.
German language skills at B1 level or higher.
Nice to have:
Experience building DevOps governance frameworks from scratch.
Background in large-scale transformation or modernization initiatives.
Experience introducing Error Budget practices and Reliability Reviews.
Relevant DevOps, Cloud, or Agile certifications.
Experienced in using AI tools in day-to-day workflow
Project description:
Join a strategic transformation initiative for one of Germany's leading technology-driven organizations. We're looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Consultant who can bridge the gap between technology and organizational change.
In this role, you'll help shape how DevOps and Reliability Engineering are adopted across the company, ensuring that reliability becomes a core part of the operating model. You'll work with senior stakeholders, define governance standards, and establish processes that have a lasting impact on the way teams collaborate and deliver value.
This is a fully remote opportunity across the EU, with only occasional travel to Nuremberg, Germany (approximately 5-6 days per year).
Main responsibilities:
Design and implement a DevOps governance model that supports long-term scalability and operational excellence.
Define clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making structures using the RACI framework.
Establish reliability standards, SLI/SLO frameworks, and Error Budget practices.
Create and operationalize a Reliability Review Board.
Build KPI frameworks that enable teams to measure and improve service performance.
Drive continuous improvement of incident management and reliability processes.
Partner with engineering leaders and business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
Support the adoption of cloud-native operating models and modern DevOps practices.
Act as a trusted advisor, helping teams build a culture of reliability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
