Portfolio Manager – Banking / Insurance / Wealth & Asset Management
We are partnering with our client to build a talented team ready to support current and upcoming projects. Our client delivers large-scale international transformation programmes for some of the world's most recognised financial services organisations. As a Portfolio Manager, you will lead portfolio governance and oversight, working closely with senior stakeholders and international delivery teams across Banking, Insurance, and Wealth & Asset Management.
Please note: This is a full-time freelance opportunity with an initial 1-year contract and the possibility of extension.
Requirements
At least mid-level experience in portfolio management, programme management, PMO, or a similar project and portfolio governance role.
Previous experience within Banking, Insurance or Wealth & Asset Management (WAM) – this is a must-have
Strong understanding of portfolio and project governance, reporting and delivery processes
Experience overseeing multiple projects, programmes or workstreams simultaneously
Experience with portfolio reporting, risk and dependency management, resource planning and financial tracking
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex project and portfolio data into clear insights and recommendations
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with senior stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in complex, international and cross-functional environments
English at C1 level
Nice to have
German or French at B2 level or higher
Previous experience working as a Project Manager
Experience in large-scale transformation, technology, regulatory or business change programmes
Knowledge of common project and portfolio management methodologies, frameworks and tools
Your responsibilities
Managing and overseeing a portfolio of projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic priorities
Providing portfolio-level governance, oversight and reporting across multiple projects and workstreams
Monitoring portfolio performance, delivery progress, key milestones, risks, issues and dependencies
Supporting the prioritisation of projects and initiatives based on business value, strategic objectives, capacity and available resources
Coordinating dependencies and identifying potential conflicts or delivery risks across projects and programmes
Preparing portfolio-level reports, dashboards, forecasts and presentations for senior management and executive stakeholders
Providing clear insights and recommendations based on portfolio performance and delivery data
Supporting resource and capacity planning across the portfolio
Monitoring portfolio budgets, forecasts and financial performance
Working closely with Project and Programme Managers to ensure consistent delivery standards, governance and reporting
Supporting portfolio governance forums, steering committees and senior stakeholder meetings
Ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution of portfolio-level risks, issues and dependencies
Driving continuous improvement of portfolio management processes, governance frameworks, reporting standards and ways of working
Supporting decision-making by providing senior stakeholders with accurate and timely information on portfolio health, priorities and performance
