Senior Release Manager (RO)

Our customer operates as a dynamic IT service provider, supporting the digital transformation of the German economy.
As a Release Manager (m/f/d), you will be responsible for governing the patch and release process. While the operational execution remains within the delivery teams, you will take on centralized steering, monitoring and continuous improvement of the overarching release management process.
This role has been newly established within the organization. Initially, the focus will be on coordination, analysis, and deriving necessary measures. Over time, the process is intended to become further automated — including monitoring, workflows, and quality checks. As Release Manager, you will actively shape this journey and ensure that future automated mechanisms operate efficiently, transparently, and reliably.
Your Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with defined release processes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Define, maintain, and continuously enhance the release management framework.
Manage patch deployments and analyze deviations and risks. Derive operational requirements and escalate critical findings as needed.
Track mitigation actions and ensure quality assurance across all involved teams.
Further develop KPI and monitoring frameworks for release quality, stability, and cycle times.
Contribute to the automation of release and patch processes (e.g., workflows, dashboards, reporting).
Identify automation potential and define requirements for future tools.
Create and maintain relevant documentation (process descriptions, workflows, checklists).
Ensure complete release documentation and audit readiness and report results to management and relevant business units.
Your Profile
Experience in release, change, or IT service management (ITIL certification is mandatory).
Solid knowledge of patch management, deployment processes, and operational IT structures.
Strong understanding of governance, process design, and compliance requirements.
Experience working with cross‑functional teams and complex IT landscapes.
Ideally, experience with automation or orchestration platforms.
Analytical and structured working style with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to translate observations into actionable measures and follow through on their implementation.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
Assertiveness and a keen sense of priorities and risks.
High quality awareness and a holistic view of processes and outcomes.
C1 German and English skill in spoken and written language.
