GeoAI Architect (remote) - FTC [UK]

Location – Fully remote within UK territory
Work Pattern - Monday to Friday, 9-5 working hours, with some flexibility

Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on GeoAI architect who is focused on designing and delivering enterprise grade geospatial architectures and GeoAI solutions. The role bridges business goals with technical execution, leading client engagements from pre-sales through delivery, while also contributing directly as a software engineer on scalable geospatial components, API and data pipelines. The core emphasis of this role is on integrating geospatial data, satellite imagery and AI-driven analytics into enterprise system to deliver interpretable, actionable business outcomes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the GeoAI solution architecture for clients, delivering cloud based geospatial platforms, prototypes and proof of concepts. There will be hands-on engineering, own GenAI client engagements and they will apply EO/geospatial expertise to identify high-value AI/analytics use cases across industries.
Beyond the core technical responsibilities, this role requires someone who can translate business goals into analytical/engineering work, ensuring smooth integration into enterprise workflows and stakeholder alignment. This person will communicate value clearly, ensuring outputs are interpretable and driving measurable results and adaptations.
Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will:
have deep geospatial and earth observation domain expertise
have Geo data engineering background; geospatial standards/tech (STAC, OGC, WMS, WMTS, TiTiler, GeoServer)
have cloud-native geospatial platforms and workflow orchestration (Kubernetes, Dask, Airflow, Flyte)
have strong Python technical knowledge
have cloud experience of AWS, Azure or GCP
have some AI/ML experience
have experience of designing GeoAI architectures combing ML models with geospatial pipelines
have managed senior/lead level stakeholders, problem solving skills, build client relationships, manage client expectations and effective communication skills
Desirable Skills/Knowledge/Experience
Docker and modern CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
Proven managements of GeoAI projects/teams and successful delivery outcomes.
Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or Geoinformatics/Earth observation (preferred)

Experience
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
Proven experience as a Software Engineer, ideally with a focus on geospatial-related projects.
Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
You are flexible and curious in your approach
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Duration of the contract: initially 6 months with the possibility of extension – contract FTC (full-time)
