Backend UC Specialist
Tech stack:
- Microsoft Teams, Cisco Jabber, Cisco Webex
- Cisco CUCM (Call Manager), CUC (Unity Connection), CUPS (Presence), Cisco Unified Attendant Console, Apas Andtek Assistant Manager Server
- Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
- Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu for UC appliances or monitoring tools)
- VMware vSphere / ESXi (virtualization of UC servers)
- Hyper-V (alternative virtualization platform)
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Unified Communications (UC) backend systems
- Proven track record in managing enterprise-grade UC platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Cisco CUCM)
- Experience in hybrid UC environments (on-premises + cloud)
- Deep understanding of SIP, VoIP, and UC protocols
- Proficiency in Windows Server and Active Directory administration
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python
- Familiarity with Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and VoIP gateways
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (QoS, VPN, SD-WAN)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, CQD)
- Experience implementing PKI, TLS, and secure UC communications
- Understanding of data protection regulations (GDPR, ISO standards)
- Ability to manage identity and access via LDAP, SAML, OAuth2
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNP Collaboration, ITIL Foundation) are a strong plus
- Proficient in English (B2 or higher)
- German language skills are a strong advantage
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Capable of working cross-functionally with international teams

Main responsibilities:
System Management & Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain backend Unified Communications (UC) systems
- Administer UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Cisco CUCM, or similar
- Manage server environments (Windows/Linux) supporting UC infrastructure
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of UC services
- Planning, deploying, configuring, and managing Microsoft Teams
- Configure and manage Teams environments
- Administer teams, channels, chats, and apps
- Manage meetings and calling features
- Monitor, report on, and troubleshoot Teams performance and issues
Troubleshooting & Support:
- Diagnose and resolve complex UC-related issues across voice, video, and messaging systems
- Provide Tier 3 support and collaborate with service desk teams for escalations
- Monitor system health and proactively address potential disruptions
- Implement and manage security protocols for UC systems (TLS, PKI, SBC configurations)
