Manual QA (renewable energy)
Purpose of the Role
Ensure the quality of a growing platform for managing renewable energy installations (RES) through manual testing of new functionalities, ongoing regression verification, and close collaboration with the development and QA teams. This role focuses on requirements analysis, preparing test cases, and catching defects as early as possible in the software delivery process.
Project Context
You will join a team developing a platform for managing solar farms, wind farms, and energy storage facilities. The system enables operators and owners of RES installations to monitor, plan, and optimize energy production and storage.
The team works in a Kanban model, with a strong emphasis on quality, continuous value delivery, and smooth workflow. The QA team includes both manual and automation testers, collaborating in a partnership-based approach.
Responsibilities
- Manual testing of a web application (UI and API)
- Preparing and maintaining test cases in QMetry
- Performing regression and functional testing as part of planned releases
- Reporting and describing defects in Jira (including prioritization and retesting)
- Collaborating with QA Automation by providing scenarios and cases for automation
- Working closely with developers and the Product Owner to analyze requirements and discuss acceptance criteria
- Participating in team meetings, sharing test status and identified risks
- Testing defects reported by users and business teams
- Ensuring test coverage and release readiness of the product
Requirements
Must-have skills & experience
- 3–4+ years of experience in manual testing of web applications
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and defect management process
- Ability to independently create test cases based on documentation or verbal requirements
- Experience working in agile methodologies, especially Kanban
- Familiarity with tools such as: Jira (tasks, defects, tags, dependencies), QMetry (creating & managing manual tests), Postman (basic API testing: GET, POST, status codes), DevTools (checking network & console errors)
- Ability to collaborate with the QA Automation team (without the need to write automated tests)
- English skills sufficient for working with documentation and team communication
Nice to have
- Experience in energy sector projects, SCADA systems, or renewable energy (RES)
- Understanding of basic industry concepts: wind farms, solar, forecasting, grid
- Knowledge of SQL for basic database validation
