Fullstack Developer [UK]
We are looking for a Fullstack Developer to join a team working for our UK-based client – the national mapping agency for Great Britain and a global leader in geospatial data and digital mapping solutions. You will be part of a project focused on building a comprehensive digital map of underground assets in the UK, contributing to the development of data pipelines, backend services, and a frontend application that support critical decision-making across government and industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for a fullstack engineer who enjoys working across modern frontend and backend technologies and has a particular interest in geospatial applications. You will be involved in designing and implementing interactive web interfaces with dynamic maps, spatial queries, and integrations with geospatial APIs and services.
Tech Stack:
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3
- Backend: Node.js, Express.js
- DevOps & Infrastructure: Modern CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and cloud-based environments (e.g. AWS or Azure)
- Geospatial stack (preferred): Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers, PostGIS, GeoJSON, WMS/WFS
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in JavaScript development, particularly with Node.js and React
- Proven track record delivering complex, high-quality fullstack web applications
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, microservices, and containerized environments (e.g. Docker)
- Experience working with or integrating web map libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers)
- Familiarity with geospatial data formats and coordinate reference systems
- Ability to implement and test map functionality such as layer control, drawing tools, geolocation, spatial filtering, and data overlays
- Bonus: familiarity with spatial databases (PostGIS) or server-side geospatial tools (Turf.js, GDAL)
- Strong communication and collaborative team mindset
- Experience working in agile environments
Contract details:
- Start Date: September 2025
- Contract Length: 18 months

Location:
Fully remote within the UK, with potential business trips to Southampton every 4–6 weeks.
