Application Engineer

Requirements:

  • Troubleshooting expertise across Windows/Unix/Linux operating systems, with good knowledge of application/production servers and networking concepts
  • Analytical Skills & Autonomy: Ability to work independently and analyze complex technical requirements 
  • Ability to work independently while being an effective team player 
  • Experience with IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, etc. 
  • Understanding of ITIL principles & practices, especially related to configuration management 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is nice to have) 
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders

Project description:

Our client is a leading managed service provider in Germany and offers its customers IT infrastructures, application management, hybrid cloud solutions and digital workplace solutions. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the complete Discovery solution, e.g. Installation/Configuration, Patch Management/Upgrades 
  • Troubleshooting failed scheduled/ad-hoc discovery scans 
  • Troubleshooting whenever the application components are no longer discovered
  • Taking backup of application models through Discovery and importing the models into Discovery when it is required 
  • Working with the Vendor to fix defects\bugs encountered in Discovery 
  • Maintaining the synchronization of the discovered Data into ServiceNow CMDB
  • Working and resolving Discovery related tickets in 2nd Level 
  • Document application architecture and operational process 
  • Document support activities, track changes, and manage the process for changes; prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents to prevent recurrence 
  • Building Discovery patterns used to auto-discover the application components
  • Identifying automation possibilities for recurring configuration/maintenance activities and implementing the required automation process
