Monitoring & Observability Engineer
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science / IT or comparable training with 3-5 years’ professional experience.
- Hands-on expertise with Nagios, Icinga, Checkmk or Prometheus plus scripting (Bash, Python or PowerShell) is a plus.
- Solid Linux administration; familiarity with virtualisation, containers and public/private cloud concepts.
- Experience with ITIL processes and ticketing tools (preferably ServiceNow).
- Strong analytical skills, ownership mentality and the ability to communicate clearly in German & English across distributed teams.

For specific industries, such as the pharmaceutical industry, specific compliance regulations must be considered during transition / set up of IT systems and its operations until the end of its lifecycle (i.e. GxP-requirements). Within the customer's Governance organization, a dedicated quality unit is responsible to ensure compliance of internal processes for IT service operations to the regulatory requirements.
The Specialist we're looking for acts as IT Quality Assurance to ensure compliance to the beforementioned regulatory aspects locally. They actively works together with the Governance QM-Team to make sure the GxP-relevant processes are implemented, trained and followed locally. The person acts as SPOC and IT Subject Matter expert for all local staff regarding GxP-related activities.
Main responsibilities:
- Design, configure and run open-source monitoring & observability platforms for complex hybrid-cloud landscapes.
- Review and tune monitoring rules to improve performance, reduce downtime and raise infrastructure/application visibility.
- Provide first-line analysis for monitoring alerts, troubleshoot with server/application experts and drive root-cause resolution.
- Process incidents, changes and service requests via e-mail and ServiceNow; join the on-call rotation for P1/P2 incidents.
- Create custom dashboards, reports and KPIs to match customer SLAs.
- Automate recurring tasks and extend integrations (APIs, webhooks, CMDB links).
- Document architectures, operating manuals and best-practice guidelines; train colleagues in monitoring tool usage.
